The Proof-Of-Concept Vehicle & Base-Station

Design and build an automated trans-oceanic surface vehicle controlled by the Raspberry Pi, and powered by solar energy.

We are developing a Marine Unmanned Surface Vessel, which will ultimatley be able to cross the Atlantic unaided, and take scientific measurements while doing so. Ultimatley we'd like to be able to provide FishPis to anyone who wants one. We aim to produce kit FishPis ranging from vessels able to run from batteries for a few hours, to full featured long mission solar vessels capabale of months at sea.

To test the basic principles of FishPi The Proof-Of-Concept Vehicle is currently in development. The POCV is being used to test the concept of autonomous control using the Raspberry Pi microcomputer.

For more information on FishPi the project is online at, there is an accompanying forum here, and our twitter account is @TheFishPi. We also have a YouTube Channel.

The Prototype FishPi will be the first sea-going version. The Prototype only exists on paper at this time. To see design & feature ideas for the Prototype, and the POCV please visit the Brain Stew section of the forum.

There is a code repository on GitHub which will host the software for the POCV, and at a later date, the code for The Prototype. A twitter news-feed from the GitHub repository is @TheFishPi_Dev

For information about the Raspberry Pi please visit The Raspberry Pi Foundation's website. Raspberry Pi is a trademark of the Raspberry Pi Foundation..
